During the restoration process of Titian’s Assunta in the Frari Church in Venice from 2021 to 2022, Friederike von Rauch captured photos primarily from the scaffolding. These photos, however, do not offer a complete view of the masterpiece but provide intimate insights into layers, colors, materials, and smaller details.
The captured images serve as a starting point for Friederike von Rauch’s abstract montages. In this creative process, she removes the images from their original context, cuts them apart, and reassembles them in new ways. This allows for the interpretation and recreation of art in an abstract and innovative manner, showcasing a unique perspective on the restoration process during the specified period.
